Instant recipes for breakfast

Breakfast is a meal commonly eaten in the morning to break the overnight fast and rejuvenate the body and mind. After an overnight fast our body needs a good nutritious breakfast to keep us going good throughout the day. We have compiled various instant recipes for breakfast.



Semolina/ Rava/ Suji -1/2 cup

Water- 11/4

Salt- as needed

Ghee- 1tbsp

Cumin-1/2 tsp

Mustard-1/2 tsp

Chana dal- 1tsp

Urad Dal- 1tsp

Cashews-10 split or as needed

Green chillies-2

Spring curry leaves-1

1 Pinch hing


Turmeric- 2 pinches

Tomatoes chopped, ripe(deseeded)-3/4 cup

Finely chopped coriander leaves – 2tbsp

How to make Tomato Upma:

To make the Tomato Upma, Dry roast the Rava, (semolina) on medium heat until it turns crunchy.  Stir well to avoid the burning.

While roasting the Rava cut and deseeds the tomatoes, cut onions, and green chilies. Once the Rava becomes crunchy, take out it into another bowl so that it will be easy to pour.

To make the Upma heat the pan in which you want to make it. Add oil or ghee. Add cumin, mustard, dals and cashew. Fry until golden brown.

Then add onions, curry leaves, and green chilies. Let them fry for 2 to 3 mins. And then sprinkle hing.

Add finely chopped onions, tomatoes, and salt let it for 2
mins. Cover with a lid and allow it to cook. Then add turmeric.

Now pour water and let it boil, turn the fire to the medium. When the water starts boiling, slowly pour rava in a stream stirring with the other hand using a ladle.

Stir well and check there should not be any lumps. Cover a lid and put it on medium heat, after some time water will be absorbed.

Stir well. At the end add some ghee and chopped coriander leaves. It tastes awesome when it is hot.

This is best one to make an instant recipes for breakfast.



Ragi flour -1 cup

Rice flour -1/4 cup

Curd-1/2 cup

Urad dal paste – 1.5ladle

Salt according to taste

Water- 1.5 to 2 Cups

Mix all ingredients well; make sure the batter does not have lumps.

Make the dosa with batter and pour ½ tablespoon on of oil on dosa.


Oats Upma is the recipe which we can make within 15 minutes. It is a healthy and instant recipes for breakfast. Oats are the healthiest thing which we must have in our daily diet. Adding vegetables enhance the taste and nutritious value to the Oats Upma.


Rolled Oats or quick cook oats-1

Water- 1 cup for rolled oats, ½ cup for quick cook oats

Oil-11/2 tbsp

Mix vegetables like (chopped carrots, peas, beans) – 1/2 to 3/4

Green chilies (or) broken red chili- 1 to 3

Lemon juice- 1 to 2 tbsp

Coriander leaves- 2 tbsp

Grated coconut- 2 tbsp

Salt to taste

Curry leaves-1 spring

Ginger finely chopped- ¼ tsp

Hing-1 pinch

Mustard- ¼ tsp

Cumin- ¼ tsp

Chana dal- ½ tsp

Urad dal-  ½ tsp

Peanuts or cashews – 2 tbsp

Turmeric- 1/8 tsp

How to make Oats Upma:

To make oats upma take a vessel, put it on the stove. Then pour oil into the vessel, let the oil heat.

Add all the ingredients in a sequence like Mustard seeds, cumin seeds, urad dal, Chana dal, cashew or peanuts,  Green chili, hing.

Saute it for some time till they become golden brown. And add turmeric. Add mixed vegetables and salt, let the vegetables cook.

Now add water as per directed and allow it to boil. Once the water comes to boil add roasted oats into it.

Mix well until it absorbs the water. Now cover a lid and put it on a sim. After five minutes open the lid and add some lemon juice.

And sprinkle coriander and grated coconut. Finally, Oats Upma is ready to serve.

How to make Mixed Dal Dosa:

Soak at least for 6hrs or overnight, No Rice added. No Fermentation needed.

After soaking overnight grind the soaked dal mix to some thick batter adjust salt to taste and water for consistency.

Make a dosa on a medium hot pan. Roast until golden brown. This is a great recipe for kids who are picky eaters or people with special conditions like Sugar.

This Dosa tastes very well with coconut chutney.



Take 3 Boiled Potatoes mash them.

Add 2 cups of wheat floor.

Cumin seeds- half tsp

Red chili powder – 1 tea spoon

Ginger garlic paste- 1 teaspoon

Carom (ajwain) Seeds- half teaspoon

Coriander leaves – 2 tsp

How to make Potato Roti:

Mix well adds required quantity of water, make it as dough.

Make the thick Roti of the dough. After making the dough just fry it on the pan let it get the good color and cook well. Hot Aalu Roti is ready to serve.



Wheat flour – 1 cup

Warm ghee- 2 tsp

Curd – 1 cup

Salt – to taste

How to make Wheat flour Dosa:

Wheat flour dosa is the variety recipe for the kids and elderly people. If you got tired with the routine chapathi and paratha’s just try the Dosa of wheat flour which is very easy to make and tasty.

This wheat dosa can go with any Indian pickles.  If you don’t have time to prepare chutney, you can have it with tomato sauce also. Wheat contains fiber which is very good for health. No fermentation is needed to make this Dosa.

Take 1 cup wheat flour and add 2 tea spoon of ghee, mix well
in the flour.

Then add 1 cup of curd and salt to taste then again mix it.
Gradually add water into the flour and make the Dosa batter.

Now, lit the stove and put the pan and allow it to heat, then make dosa.

This Dosa can be served with any pickle or chutney.
