How to make a meal cheap and good?

Cheap family meals under $20 fast food

Less than one euro per person is p$ossible!

All of these dishes use ingredients that are both economical, nutritious and healthy.

Note that I rely on the prices of entry-level products from a conventional supermarket.

If you buy organic, you can still get away for not too expensive. I do not voluntarily give a precise price because the rates vary a lot depending on the stores and the doses you eat, but believe me, these recipes are economic.

If you want to shop cheaper, besides the drive that will save you money on unexpected and unnecessary purchases Come on, we attack the recipes:

1. Rice salad, tuna, and beans

A dish at once easy, good and cheap (well,
like all those I’ll list you here, what).

The rice salad is eaten fresh or at room temperature and makes a  delicious starter. You can make a mega salad bowl and you will have for 4 days without a problem.

If you have a lot of mouths to feed at home, it will do you less to prepare

The rice salad is your friend: she stalls, it contains carbohydrates, proteins, and vegetables (well, if you put some). A classic that has proven itself!

The rice salad, like the salad of pasta or quinoa, is a particularly suitable dish for lunch at work.

You will kill two birds with one stone because you save money (as the young say) while eating a healthy and balanced dish, and I do not talk about the time saved not to go heat it because it is eaten cold

Another advantage, and not least: since it is
you who do it, you know that there is no chemical crap in unless you put some
(I think in particular the industrial vinaigrette stuffed with sugar and dyes).

If you want to do something really healthy, put whole rice, chia seed, and a good dose of fresh vegetables.

What you need :

Well, it’s up to you to see. You put what you
want, but here are the most common ingredients for this type of salad:

  •   Rice (full is always better especially for the fibers)
  •  Raw vegetables: tomatoes, peppers, cucumbers, celery branch, shallot
  •  Olives (green, black, stuffed …)
  • But
  •  Tuna
  • Red beans
  • Seasoning: salt, pepper, olive oil, why not a little mustard, you will see that it is not bad!

How to do :

  • Cook a good dose of rice and wait until it cools. You can pass it under cold water once cooked when draining it if you are in a hurry
  • Cut the vegetables into small pieces
  • Mix the rice with the other ingredients in a large salad bowl And There you go! If you miss that, you’re officially a hopeless case

3. Potato omelet

A great classic of our canteens and Spanish cuisine, potato omelet is a delicious dish, healthy, consistent and that will not cost you anything!

What do you need? Potatoes, onions, salad, and eggs. I challenge you to find me cheaper ingredients to cook a complete dish!

So good, so simple, so nourishing. It’s the cheap meal par excellence! No wonder the Spaniards have made one of their national dishes!

What you need for 2 people:

             500g
of potatoes

             5

             Parsley, garlic, salt, and pepper to taste

How to do :

             Cut
the diced potatoes and cook them in a pan with olive oil

             While
it’s cooking, beat the eggs in a bowl with the seasoning

             Once
the potatoes are cooked (not the potatoes cooked, it hurts toothache),
drain the oil, pour the eggs over and cook on low heat (very soft, otherwise it
will burn!)

And There you go! A little salad and vinegar next to it and you have a superb dish

4. Sausages lentils (with carrots and onions)

Another well-bred dish, simple, good, healthy, effective and that will please everyone: sausages-lentils! The star of the cheap meal

Forget the cans to foul taste and make you want to hang listening to Creep by Radiohead. Do yourself a favor by eating a really good and cheap dish

What you need :

You will need (amazing) lentils, sausages (or small pieces of chorizo, it works too), onions and carrots. Again, these are just ultra-cheap and healthy products.

As for quantities, you are free to put what you want. It’s
up to you to see if you like a lot of lenses compared to the rest or not. Note
that lentils swell when cooked

Of course, you can add all the spices that will pass by the hand: curry, garlic, cumin, salt, pepper, mustard … All you want, I tell you! Tomatoes, peppers, potatoes, why not? As long as it has a good face, go gaily

How to do :

             Cook your lentils first. Take dry lentils because they are cheaper and cook in 45 minutes with water (no need to put them in the water overnight, unlike dry beans). If you are really lazy, open a box. You can add a teaspoon (no more!) Of baking soda.

             Peel
and cut your carrots as you see fit, then cook for  15 to 20 minutes in the water with a little
salt. Personally, I cook them with lentils by adding them halfway through
cooking. We optimize energy too!

             Cook
your sausages next door and serve!

It’s very good, very healthy and cheap (and vegan if you
remove chorizo: P)! For this time, I cooked the carrots separately, slowly in a
saucepan with some spices (garlic, salt, caraway, curry, olive oil).

5. Croque-monsieur

Your laziness is such that you do not even have the time to cook pasta? But OK, I have a QUICK solution for a balanced meal (if you add two salad leaves next we say it’s good).

I looked for people who did not like croque-monsieur, but I
did not find one. If this is your case, show up in the comments below.

What you need :

             The
bread (complete if you can)

             the

             Of
butter (with butter, everything is better)

             Of
grated cheese (cheddar or old, is excellent)

             Fried
egg on the sandwich if you want to make a croque-madame

How to do :

             Put butter, ham and a little Emmentaler between two slices of bread

             Spread on top of the butter and add some Emmental

             Put
in the oven for 5 to 10 minutes maximum (depending on whether you like
it cooked or not)

Serve with a little salad, and life is beautiful

6. Gratin Dauphinois

Still a classic of French cuisine. super good: gratin Dauphinois.

We find only nourishing ingredients, good and cheap: potatoes, cream, and grated Gruyere. Look, here is one that I did myself:

It may be surprising, but once I put a pinch of curry in a
gratin Dauphinois, and I found it funnily good. If you like the original stuff,
go for it!

What you need for 4 people:

             50cl
of thick cream (a big pot)

             200g
grated cheese

             2kg
of potatoes

             A
little garlic , nutmeg , salt and pepper to taste

How to do :

             Cut
the potatoes into slices

             Arrange
them in a gratin dish while adding the crème fraîche

             Season with garlic, salt, pepper, and nutmeg. I like to put a little curry or cumin sometimes, it gives a nice taste (and it’s not expensive).

             Cover
with grated cheese

             Put
in the oven 1h at 180 ° C and it’s good!

You can accompany any meat or just vegetables (but then eat
at least some starter eggs to have enough protein).

7. Yogurt cake

A nice little dessert (or taste , it’s according to): the traditional and simple yogurt cake !

Beautiful, good, simple, efficient and … cheap! Yes I know,
I repeat myself but what do you want!

What you need for 4 to 6 people (or 2 wolverines):

What I love about this recipe is that  everything is measured in jars of yogurt  ! No need to worry about complicated dosages
and measurements, look at:

             1 jar of plain yogurt . You can also put a scented, but personally, it is the nature that I prefer because we feel the taste of yogurt in the cake.

             2
pots (of the same yogurt, suddenly) of sugar

             3
pots of flour (whole flour, it works too and it’s healthier )

             1/2
pot of sunflower oil

             3

             1
packet of vanilla sugar

             1
sachet of baking powder (be careful, do not use baker’s yeast)

How to do :

             Take a cake pan and butter it well, the name of a pipe! Better yet: I recommend silicone molds, it’s great.

             Pour the ingredients into the bowl: first the yogurt, then the sugar and the eggs, then the flour, the oil and the yeast. Stir all this!

             Pour the dough into your cake pan and bake it.

             35
minutes later, it’s ready!

Ah, of course you can add all kinds of jams, raisins,
chocolate chips  and everything that goes
through your head, it’s even better

8. Fruit salad

After all this cake, we finish with a fresh and healthy thing; a good old fruit salad.

Attention: I’m talking about fruit salad to do yourself. I am not talking about these junk sold all ready inbox and bathed in a foul syrup so sweet that one would become diabetic on the field! You’re better than that, let’s see …

Do yourself some good: make yourself a nice fruit salad with
real fruit! If you can, buy them organic and keep the skin (it rhymes), it will
be better and there will be more nutrients.

A fresh fruit salad, it takes 2 minutes to do and it’s day and night compared to the ready-made version. And if you miss it, show me a picture in the comments because I would like to see how it’s possible to miss a fruit salad!
