Big Fat Notebook Series Review – 5 Books Your Middle School Child Needs

Recently I was chatting with some of my local homeschool mom friends when one of them mentioned their favorite books to have in their homeschool. As soon as I saw them, I knew I was going to have to get my hands on them as well.

5 Books Your Middle School Child Needs

If you have not yet heard of the “Big Fat Notebook Series” by Workman Publishing yet (the same people who created Brain Quest), you have got to keep reading. You will be so happy that you did! I was so excited when they arrived on my doorstep and I couldn’t wait to show them to the girls!

There is a book for each of the core subjects (math, science, English, world history, and US history), and they are stuffed full of everything you could possibly think a middle school child will need to learn before they reach high school.

They are meant to be a complete study guide for middle school but could easily be adapted for a basic homeschool curriculum, which is how we plan to use them.

Why Your Middle School Child Needs the Big Fat Notebook Series

We fell in love with these books mostly because of how they are written. The books are made to resemble “notes borrowed from the smartest kid in class”. The pages are colorful and include doodles and sketches throughout.

The style of the pages actually reminds me of the Diary of a Wimpy Kid books, so if your kids are into that series they will definitely like these notebooks!

The topics are broken down into bite sized chapters, complete with questions and answers to help them check their knowledge at the end of each chapter.
The best part of these books is the price. They are so affordable! You can find each of these books for $15 or less!
