I’m the kind of person who loves to pack. I love making a list, I love planning out exactly what I’ll bring, and I love pre-vacation shopping. This is even more true when I am packing for Walt Disney World. It can be a difficult task, though, thanks to the insane amount of walking and sporadic rain showers that occur at the most magical place on Earth.
Whenever I would pack for a trip to my real home, it’s shoes I used struggle with the most. It’s hard to find the right shoes to stay comfortable in with all that walking, while also trying to avoid trekking around with wet socks or visually displeasing sneakers.
On a typical 6 or 7 day theme park trip to Disney and sometimes Sea World and Universal Studios, you can expect to do a lot of walking. By the way, about walking more than usual at Disney, keep in mind that the walking plus the heat for some people could result in a Disney rash. Going on a trip to Disney and Orlando without bringing the right shoes is not a very good idea.
But never fear! I’ve compiled a list of the five types of shoes I most recommend for getting your Magic Kingdom on, whether in the cooler winter months or the steamy, wet summer!
Best Women’s Shoes For Walt Disney World 2021
1. TOMS Canvas Classics
Once these are broken in, they are honestly the most comfortable non-sandal shoe I own. I wore these almost every day this February at Universal and WDW (Walt Disney World), and my feet were thankful for the lack of blisters, which I am highly prone to (I have the heels of a newborn baby; flats and I have an ongoing battle).
I spray them with water repellant first, but I would not advise wearing these if it will be rainy throughout the day; they’re not pleasant wet. I wore them on days it was supposed to be dry, then packed a pair of flip flops in our backpack just to be safe. If you’ll be at the World in the cooler months when it doesn’t rain so much, these are a great option.

2. Sanuk Women's Yoga Chakra Flip-Flop
If you have not discovered Sanuk Yoga Flip Flops, you must to stop what you’re doing and order these immediately. Seriously. I’ll wait. All the Amazon reviews will back me up when I say these are THE BEST SANDALS IN THE WORLD. Comfort abounds, friends. These are my absolute go-to for long days walking around World Showcase at Epcot.
Rain is no issue, blisters are nonexistent, and the yoga mat bottom is like a cloud of pure happiness is cushioning your foot. I just wish I had all the colors. There are so many types of Sanuk sandals, so poke around on Amazon, but I can attest that the yoga mat ones are better than any of the other kinds Sanuk makes.
- 100% Synthetic
- Rubber sole
- Flip-flop featuring thong strap with striped linin and small logo patch at side
- Yoga mat footbed with sealed edge and arch cookie
- Happy polyurethane sponge rubber outsole
3. Converse Unisex-Child Chuck Taylor All Star Loopholes Ox
These are another great option if you will be at WDW in the cooler months. Chucks are super comfortable, and better yet, you probably already have a pair. When I wore these in February it actually rained all day, and although they did get a little wet, I had on moisture wicking socks and surprisingly didn’t notice until we got back to the hotel. I wouldn’t purposefully wear them on a rainy day, though. Instead I’d go for this next option.
- Rubber sole
- Comfortable to wear
4. KEEN Women's Clearwater CNX Leather Sandal
These are great sandal for the rainy florida weather. They are incredibly comfortable, have great support, and keep you from doing that tripping in flip flops thing when you hit the edge of the sandal on the ground and it gets bent over and you scrape your toe in an ugly, awkward manner. Not that that’s happened to me before… I’d recommend going at least a half size up in these, as they run a little small. They may not be the cutest shoes in the world, but your feet will be grateful.
- Polyester Webbing
- Rubber sole
- Closed-toe outdoor sandal featuring stretch lining, bungee cord lacing, and striped webbing loops at tongue and heel
- Compression-molded lightweight EVA foam midsole
- Stability shank
- Women’s specific fit
- Non-marking rubber outsole with multi-directional lug pattern
5. Chaco Women's Zvolv X Sport Sandal
My original pair of Chacos were these
, and I loved them until I wore them for an entire day at WDW and the toe straps gave me terrible blisters. This really bummed me out, since otherwise they were so wonderfully comfy. These Zvolv X sandals seem to be the solution. They are equally as light as the Fantasias, but they are lacking the toe strap. Also, I like that they are a more neutral grey rather than raspberry colored like my Fantasias. And these do great in rain as well, since they stay strapped on and don’t soak up any water.

Why you must put on right shoes to Walt Disney World?
Imagine taking part in an event. Do you think you would wear your heels? Would you put on your sandals which rub after a while? Absolutely not. Don’t even think about taking these to the theme parks either! Dress your feet like you were running a half-marathon Your feet, your toes and ankles will be grateful. 18,000 steps is a serious exercise.
The reality is that if you’re in the sunniest state in the United States, Florida, you need to protect your eyes during outdoor shows or stops. Also, a bag is perfect for carrying your jacket (or Jacket!) on those days when it’s cold in the morning but warmer in the afternoon. Lastly, don’t forget your comfortable, closed-toe shoes to win the battle against those long lines and long walks.
When deciding on the right shoes for Disney World Make sure to think about the level of air-flow your shoes provide. A Disney day at the park can make you with feet that are sweaty and hot, so be sure to select shoes that allow your feet to breathe.
Podiatrists frequently suggest that your walking footwear must be athletic footwear or long-distance shoes equipped with laces or an ankle strap and proper arch support and grippy soles. This is to ensure that you do not suffer injury, strain or blisters. All of these can happen when you walk so frequently in Walt Disney World Resort.
What are your go-to shoes for a trip to Walt Disney World? Any you love that you don’t see on this list? I’d love to hear your suggestions!
